Take on the Vice President Debate 2008

It has been a while since I have posted but I just wanted to add a couple of things about the debate that we all saw this past Thursday.  In regards to Sarah Palin I was not impressed.  I actually felt that when she was talking, she had things to say just to fill up air time.  I don’t know if she was as prepared as much as Biden.  I was talking to my buddy Shari while the debate was going on and she made a very good observation.  It just seemed that Biden was confident and that you could have some confidence in him…..like a doctor.  I was like….. hmmmmmmmmmm….you know what….. I felt the same way.  When they first were on that stage, I you could hear the nervousness in her voice.  Her delivery was not warm….but was his?  Was I bias because of the fact that she was a woman?  No.  Don’t think so.  Just seems like she doesn’t have it all together when I comes to knowing exactly what it takes and experience. Another thing I have an issue is with her being a mother and her children.  How dare you one should say?  Ah but listen. I say that because I was looking at Oprah this past weds and it was a crazy show on how this lady left her daughter in the car while she was whisking away desperately to go through her day.  Doing too much.  I have felt the same way when it came to work, children, home.  I believe that is exactly it…women are too overwhelmed.  An Palin is going to be taking care of 5 children (1 grand child) and also run this country?  That looks a little more overwhelming to me than this women who was trying to get to her job on time as a school teacher.  I just know as a mother that it doesn’t matter what you are doing, nurse, teacher, executive CEO…when those kids are sick or they have a problem, they are on your mind.  I don’t believe that she would be a good candidate because of the fact that of the major responsibility that she has already taken of being a mother to run this country.  Well, one would say she is a governor..that is also a responsibility.  I understand that but again, I just don’t feel comfortable with her if she was in office. I mean if McCain was to become ill or die and she has  to run the country,  I think it may be just too much for one woman to handle.

Don’t mean to ramble on but I just feel more comfortable with Biden.  With his experience and how he delivered his questions, I just felt more comfortable. And with the current crisis with the economy, I have a firm belief that the Obama/Biden ticket is the one to vote for.

My take on the debate for 2008

Today was the day for the debate.  I made sure that my daughter, 15 years old, was able to cook dinner for the night and that my two little boys had the other t.v. in the room on cartoon network.  Everyone has been anticipating this event since the stock market crisis.  I just wanted to know if anytime next year would I be able to go to the bank and get some money out or if when I go to the grocery store will it take me $6.00 a gallon gas to get the the store to by $4.00 eggs since the economy went from recession to a depression.  I don’t know how what to day about the debate.  I looked at the major network and found out that they all had their commentators voicing their opinion on what they wanted the two candidates to say.  Mr. Obama this and Senator MCcain should say that.  I am just really at a lost of what is going to happen in this economy.  What is going to happen to my house, kids, bills, food….the things that I need to keep my children to survive?  How am I going to take my daughter to college in the next three years?  I wish that we as the working class had the chance to make the questions and give them to the commentator for him to pick and choose which ones would best fit what the American people where looking for.

It was interesting that during the debate they were talking about things that were happening in other countries (not saying that Georgia and Iraq was not important) but that I live here and I believe that we also have a crisis that needs to be discussed fully.  It seems to me that they didn’t give me the answers of what I wanted.  I wanted to make sure that the economy will hold so that I would be able to feed my kids and that my husband will still be at his job.  I wanted to make sure that our schools will not have anymore budget cuts because as of now my daughter doesn’t have books because we have been told that the district can’t afford them.  I also wanted to know that if they do make a change and bail out the banks and take up the 700 billion dollars, as a president how would it specifically effect us and what they will and maybe how long it will take to clean it up.  I felt they executed their answers, but did not answer the questions as a wife and mother that I needed to give me the confidence that “change” was going to happen.

I might be rambling but that is what I feel…..lost and really not knowing what was going on.  Yes…maybe it was that I kept on been interrupted every 5 minutes from my daughter asking me how long should it take to cook chicken and my son blaring the video games from the tv…but with what I did get, I still wasn’t impressed.   I may need to read a little bit more about the issues from a news real just to see what was said.

I just found that things where said through out the debate but that with my situation and I believe many other families in the United States, we still have a long way to go until we really know what is going to happen to us as a people and nation.

May God help us all and keep us save.

Beauty Health and Fitness Expo 2008

The wonderful expo that I have been waiting for….. the Beauty, Health and Fitness Expo 2008. This is one of my favorite events that take place here in Las Vegas, NV. It takes place this week on the 27th and the 28th of September. The hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cashman center. The one thing that I love about this export is that the first 200 women that come in will receive a free goodie bag. The last two years that I have been here, I have received a month’s supply of lotion to a free hair cut and/or tan with a local salon here in Las Vegas. They have all kinds of local shops as well as companies that come in from other states that promote their products and give away free samples. They usually have this even twice a month. The last one that I attended was in the spring time. I hope that it is a little bit better this second time around because it seemed that they didn’t have too many booths and a lot of attendance (I believe due to the economy) Many people seemed like they were giving free candy (from last Halloween or from the 99 cent store) instead of pens, cups or samples of their products. They had a wonderful fashion show that I love to hand out at and enjoy. I will be taking some pics and will be adding them by the beginning of next week. The cost to get into the even is $8.00, but don’t you worry….I am here with the hook up.

I am going to add a link available that you can print out and get $4.00 off the cost of admission. Here is the link. The Cashman convention center is located:

Cashman Convention Center
850 North Las Vegas Blvd.
Las Vegas, NV 89101

Hope you can attend….see you there!

Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the walk starts at 8:00 a.m. It will be taking place at Bruce Trent Park on the corner of Vegas Dr. and Rampart Blvd. The objective for the walk is to recognize that obesity is a disease and that there are many people who struggle with this condition everyday. It also causes other difficulty increasing risks for heart disease, diabetes as well as other risk factors. This walk is not only in Las Vegas but will be also taking place in other locations in the U.S. There is a brochure that I will be adding to the site if you want to participate.  Unfortunately I will not be able attend because I have another place that I will be going to and will be posting that information tomorrow.
